DOWNINGTOWN, Pa. - For the 14th consecutive year at least one women's lacrosse player from Goucher was awarded a spot on an all-region team when the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association today announced that Emily Blatter (Lexington, VA/Rockbridge County) was a second-team selection as an attacker on the 2008 Division III All-Chesapeake Region Women's Lacrosse Team.
For Blatter, who supplied the Gophers with 68 goals and 33 assists this season, it is her third time on an all-region team. She made the All-Chesapeake Region second team in 2006 as a sophomore before landing on the All-Chesapeake first team the following year as a junior.
Blatter concluded her four seasons as the fourth-leading all-time scorer in the history of Goucher's women's lacrosse program with 211 goals. In addition, she ranks third all-time in career assists (97) and career points (308).
The 224 players throughout the nation who made an all-region team are now eligible for inclusion on the IWLCA/US Lacrosse Division III All-American Team, which will be announced on May 29.
