MADISON, N.J. - Goucher landed five players on the 2008 All-Landmark Conference Women's Lacrosse Team that was revealed today by the conference.
Four of the five - senior attacker Emily Blatter (Lexington, VA/Rockbridge County), senior midfielder Kate Knitter (Sellersville, PA/Pennridge), junior midfielder Marlo Tersigni (Worcester, MA/Lawrence Academy) and junior goalkeeper Brittany Foster (Portland, ME/Portland) - earned spot on the All-Landmark first team, while junior defender Jenny Lucey (Newbury, NH/Kimball Union Academy) was a second-team selection.
The All-Landmark squad is composed of a first team and a second team with 13 honorees on each one, with selections being made by position. The voting is done by the conference's six head coaches.
Blatter is not only Goucher's leading scorer this season with 62 goals and 32 assists, but her average of 6.27 points per game is the highest among all Landmark Conference players. She has an active goal-scoring streak of 42 games, which is the second-longest in NCAA Division III history.
Knitter ranks second on the team behind Blatter in goals (51), assists (13) and points (64), and among players with more than four goals, her .490 shooting percentage is the highest.
Not only has Tersigni supplied the Gophers with 37 goals and four assists through the first 15 games of the season, but she also leads the Landmark Conference in ground balls (4.27) and draw controls (5.33) per contest.
Foster played a variety of positions while appearing in 30 games during her first two seasons, but this year became the Gophers' starting goalkeeper. In Goucher's five Landmark Conference games, she has achieved a goals-against average of 10.64 and a save percentage of .475.
Lucey became a full-time starter this season and responded by scoring four goals, collecting 25 ground balls, controlling 18 draws and forcing five opponent turnovers.
Only Drew with six representatives had more players on the All-Landmark Conference Team than Goucher.
