Gophers Turn 33 Shots Into 17 Goals Against Gators

Roach, Smith Combine for Eight Goals in Team's Second Victory
TOWSON, Md. — Emily Roach (Southington,
Conn./Southington) and Becca Smith (Leesburg,
Va./Heritage) tallied four goals apiece in leading Goucher
past Notre Dame (Md.), 17-5, this afternoon on Beldon Field.
The Gophers (2-1) were already ahead 4-1 when Roach and Smith notched their first goals of the contest just 2:10 apart. The Gators (1-1) followed with an unassisted goal by Rachel Jones to close to within 6-2 midway through the first half only to have Goucher score the final five goals of the period, as well as the first three goals of the second half for a commanding 14-2 advantage.
Mary Lambert (Chapel Hill, N.C./Chapel Hill) and Andi Lipson (Langhorne, Pa./George School) both contributed three goals to the victory, and Colleen Cole (Holliston, Mass./Northfield Mt. Hebron School) had a hand in four of Goucher's goals, scoring once in the first half and picking up assists on three other goals.
The Gophers needed only 33 shots to produce their 17 goals.
Lauren Terry finished with three goals for Notre Dame.
