March 20, 2009
IRVING, Texas – Five different players tallied a total of 10 goals for Goucher before Dallas was able to muster its first goal today as the Gophers picked up their second win on the Spring Break trip to the Lone Star State, a convincing 17-3 triumph over the Crusaders.
Marlo Tersigni (Boston, Mass./Lawrence Academy), who produced a career-high seven goals just two days ago in a 22-13 victory over Sewanee, had four goals to her credit in today's game by the time the Gophers (4-3) had opened up their 10-0 advantage. The senior midfielder added a fifth goal – her team-leading 22nd of the season – with :06 remaining in the first half that put Goucher ahead 13-1.
Colleen Cole (Holliston, Mass./Northfield Mt. Hebron School) and Becca Smith (Leesburg, Va./Heritage) both supplied a pair of goals to the offensive outburst at the outset of today's game, with the remaining two goals coming off the sticks of Mary Lambert (Chapel Hill, N.C./Chapel Hill) and Andi Lipson (Morrisville, Pa./George School).
Lipson accounted for three of Goucher's four goals in the second half.
The Crusaders (0-7) were limited to eight shots the entire contest.
