Shaner Earns Weekly Honor from Landmark Conference
MADISON, N.J. — Goucher's Ashley Shaner (Pottstown, Pa./Pottsgrove) was recognized by the Landmark Conference today as Defensive Player of the Week for the sport of women's lacrosse for Feb. 21-27.
Sophomore Goalie Makes 31 Saves During 1-1 Week for Gophers
MADISON, N.J. — Goucher's Ashley Shaner (Pottstown, Pa./Pottsgrove) was recognized by the Landmark Conference today as Defensive Player of the Week for the sport of women's lacrosse for Feb. 21-27.
The sophomore goalie was credited with a career-high 17 saves in the season-opening 16-7 loss to York and came back to stop 14 shots in a 16-14 victory over Virginia Wesleyan. Five of her 14 saves against the Marlins were made on free-position shots.
She boasted a .508 save percentage for the two games.
Shaner's 17 saves against the Spartans are the most for a Goucher goalie since Brittany Foster stopped 20 shots in a game against Drew on April 29, 2009.
