Gophers Pin 12-4 Setback on Battling Bishops
TOWSON, Md. — A five-goal, two-assist performance out of Hannah Khin (Portsmouth, N.H./Portsmouth) propelled Goucher to a 12-4 non-conference victory over Ohio Wesleyan tonight on Beldon Field.
Khin Contributes Five Goals, Pair of Assists to Non-Conference Victory
TOWSON, Md. — A five-goal, two-assist performance out of Hannah Khin (Portsmouth, N.H./Portsmouth) propelled Goucher to a 12-4 non-conference victory over Ohio Wesleyan tonight on Beldon Field.
Khin put the Gophers (2-2) up 1-0 when she tallied her first goal just :26 into the contest and her goal off a free-position shot snapped a 2-2 tie midway through the first half and put Goucher ahead to stay.
The Gophers, who finished with a 44-17 advantage in shots, tallied the final four goals of the first half and the first two goals of the second period, taking an 8-2 lead on an unassisted goal by Mary Lambert (Chapel Hill, N.C./Chapel Hill) with 23:06 left to play.
Lambert and Becca Smith (Leesburg, Va./Heritage) supplied the Gophers with two goals apiece, while Erin Reifsnyder (Austin, Texas/St. Andrews Episcopal), Sara Miller (Baldwin, Md./Dulaney) and Hannah Brown (Pinedale, Wyo./Dunn School) each contributed one goal to the victory.
Annie Swanson stuck a pair of goals for the Battling Bishops (0-1).
Both starting goalies played all 60 minutes: Ohio Wesleyan's Laura VanHoey was credited with 22 saves, while Goucher's Ashley Shaner (Pottstown, Pa./Pottsgrove) turned away eight shots.
