TOWSON, Md. — Goucher improved to 3-1 at home this season by knocking off Lebanon Valley, 17-12, this afternoon on Beldon Field.
Hannah Khin (Portsmouth, N.H./Portsmouth) tallied four goals in the first half, including one off a free-position shot that snapped a 1-1 tie after five minutes and put the Gophers (3-2) ahead to stay. Goucher led 11-5 after 30 minutes.
The Flying Dutchmen (0-2) got on the scoreboard first in the second half, closing to within 11-6 on an unassisted goal by Hana Krechel 1:29 into the period, but the Gophers responded by scoring the next five goals, which gave them a 16-6 advantage.
Khin notched her seventh goal of the game and team-leading 23rd of the season off a free-position shot with 6:23 left to play. Erin Reifsnyder (Austin, Texas/St. Andrews Episcopal) and Mary Lambert (Chapel Hill, N.C./Chapel Hill) both contributed three goals to the non-conference victory and Becca Smith (Leesburg, Va./Heritage) stuck a pair of goals.
Krechel and Lindsey Buckman tallied four goals apiece for Lebanon Valley.
The Gophers finished with a 34-22 advantage in shots.
