Overmatched Gophers Fall to Landmark Rivals

Reifsnyder Scores Four, Remains Top Turnover Forcer

TOWSON, Md. — Forced to play undermanned due to injury and suspension, Goucher was overpowered by five-time Landmark Conference champion Catholic.

Playing 11-on-12, Goucher (6-7, 0-2 Landmark) mustered five goals in each half as Erin Reifsnyder (Austin, Texas/St. Andrew's Episcopal) scored four times to lead the way. The junior now has 40 goals on the season, second on the team and sixth in the conference.

Anneke Ossorio (Lafayette, Colo./Kent Denver School) tallied three goals, Rita Meissner (Yonkers, N.Y./Yonkers) had a pair and Megan Meluskey (Wilmington, Del./Concord) struck once for the Gophers.

Defensively, the Gophers, who came into this week ranked in the top 10 in caused turnovers nationally, forced eight today. Hannah Frallicciardi (Baltimore, Md./Pikesville) forced four turnovers to lead the team. Reifsnyder, who leads the conference in the category, added two.

Reifsnyder and Catholic's Lindsay Brophy came into the game tied for the conference lead in ground balls. Brophy took possession of the top spot, beating out Reifsnyder 4-2 today.

For the Cardinals (7-6, 3-0 Landmark) Brophy scored the first two goals of the game on her way to an eight point effort.

Catholic is now 25-1 all-time in Landmark Conference regular season play and is a perfect 10-0 in the post-season, winning each of the five titles since the Landmark Conference formed.
