Women’s Lacrosse Program Names Michaela Duranti Assistant Coach

Goucher College women's lacrosse head coach Cat Thoreson has named Michaela Duranti as an assistant coach in the program for the upcoming 2018-19 athletics year.

Duranti joins the Goucher program from a standout career at nearby Towson University, where as a member of the women's lacrosse program, she earned four letters (2013-2017).

While at Towson, Duranti played in 49 games over four seasons, eventually ending her career with 19 goals scored and six assists. In the 2017 season, she played in all 19 matches the Tigers played, making a start in the midfield in 18 matches. She ended the year scoring a career-best 11 goals while adding six assists for a Tigers team that finished 12-7 overall and advanced to the NCAA Division I Championships.

Duranti also helped the Tigers capture a pair of Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Championships (2013, 2016), as Towson made the NCAA Championships in each season she was in the program, while consistently being ranked the Top 15 nationally.

Duranti was also honored for her work in the classroom while at Towson, earning IWLCA Athlete Honor Roll honors twice (2016, 2017), while making the school's Dean's List in both her junior and senior year.

Duranti came to Towson from her hometown of Farmingdale, N.Y., where she lettered in lacrosse and for 3 years at Saint Anthony's High School. As a starter her Senior Year (2013) SAHS compiled a 23-1 record and was ranked #2 in the country.

Duranti, who is returning to the area for her second year this summer as a player on The Baltimore Ride in the United Women's Pro Lacrosse League, earned a bachelor's degree in Special Education from Towson and has already received her Teaching Certification in the state of Maryland. She is currently enrolled in Goucher College's Graduate Program studying Reading Instruction.
