  • Goucher College battled Elizabethtown College tough in a 20-15 loss in Landmark Conference women's lacrosse action on Saturday.
  • Julia Gazzola paced the Gophers with five goals and one assist for six points along with seven draw controls and two ground balls.
  • Alyssa Long stuffed the stat sheet with three goals, one assist, four ground balls, three draw controls and a caused turnover. 
  • Jordan Tice chipped in a career-high two goals along with two assists for four points.
  • Abbie McHerron made 18 saves in the loss.
ABOUT SCRANTON
 
  • The Royals are 10-1 this year after finishing 12-7 last season.
  • Scranton is 4-0 on the road this year. The squad was 6-6 on the road in 2018.
  • In their last contest, the Royals defeated Rowan 11-10 on Tuesday.
  • Jill Henson leads the team with 25 goals and 18 assists for 43 points. Becca Russo powers the defense with 47 ground balls and 26 caused turnovers while Lauren Devlin has 36 saves, a .621 save percentage and a 5.15 goals against average.
  • Head coach Chrissy Trescavage is in her first season at Scranton.

  • Julia Gazzola notched her third game this season with five or more tallies while registering hers sixth-straight multi-goal performance and eighth of her career. She has 25 goals and six assists for 31 points in her last six games. In addition, she has 74 draw controls on the season, nine away from Merlo Tersigni's (83, 2008) program record.
  • Alyssa Long has three hat tricks in her last five games and four three-goal games in her career. She has 48 tallies and 16 assists for her career including a career-best 18 markers and six assists for 26 points in 2019.
  • Coming into the season, Jordan Tice only had two assists, but this year she has five tallies and 10 assists for 12 points in her senior campaign.  Tice notched her first two-goal performance of her career while she dished out two assists or more in a game for the third time in 2019.
  • Shannon Stull has scored in 36 of the 41 games she has played in her career. She needs three draw controls for 100 in her career.
  • Goalkeeper Abbie McHerron matched a career high with 18 saves against Elizabethtown. The freshman also had 18 saves against Bryn Mawr on March 14 and has three double-digit save performances in her career. The Gophers are 2-1 when she turns away at least 10 shots in a match.
