Senior Spotlight: Women's Lacrosse Katarina Molchen

Ladies and gentlemen, with today's Senior Spotlight we would like to thank a women's lacrosse player for her hard work and dedication to Goucher College and the women's lacrosse program for the last three years! This senior hails from Morgantown, West Virginia and joined the team in her sophomore year despite never playing lacrosse before in her life (SEE STORY). She appeared in 37 games including 34 starts with one goal and one assist for three points, 38 ground balls and 30 caused turnovers in her career. Last year she registered her first collegiate assist against Cedar Crest and first career goal against Moravian, and had a career-high five ground balls and three caused turnovers against Bryn Mawr. Majoring in special education, she is the daughter of Kristina and Michael. Ladies and gentlemen, No. 17 Katarina Molchen.

  2020
 
  • Appeared in six games before COVID-19 ended the season
  • Recorded nine caused turnovers and eight ground balls on the year
  • Posted at least two caused turnovers in a game four times and at least two ground balls in a contest three times
  • Registered two ground balls and two caused turnovers against Notre Dame on March 10
  • Finished her career with 37 games, 34 starts, one goal, one assist, two points, 38 ground balls, two draw controls and 30 caused turnovers 
   2019
 
  • Started all 16 games
  • Posted 1 goal, 1 assist, 25 ground balls and 17 caused turnovers
  • Notched seven games with at least two ground balls and four games with at least two caused turnovers
  • Recorded a career-high five ground balls and three caused turnovers against Bryn Mawr on March 14
  • Secured her first collegiate assist against Cedar Crest on February 23 and her lone tally against Moravian on March 23
  2018
 
  • Appeared in 15 games including 12 starts
  • Tallied five ground balls and four caused turnovers
  • Made collegiate debut against Neumann on February 17
  • Grabbed two ground balls against Medaille on March 8 and two caused turnovers against Juniata on April 7
  HIGH SCHOOL
 
  • Did not play on the girls lacrosse team at Twin Valley, but joined the Goucher women's lacrosse team as a walk-on in her sophomore campaign
