Shots were 9-7 in Hood's favor in the first half, but only the Blazers (1-0) were able to dent the scoreboard. They assumed a 1-0 advantage in the 11th minute on a goal by Stevey Markovich and it became a 2-0 game at 28:50 thanks to a goal by Jessica Devine.
The game's final goal was scored by Cara Jordan at 46:28.
The Blazers finished with a 23-9 edge in shots. Kellen Matthews (Northboro, Mass./Algonquin Regional) was the starting goalkeeper for the Gophers for the 51st consecutive game and was credited with seven saves.
