TOWSON, Md. — Junior goalkeeper Lexi Rudolph (Kensington, Md./Our Lady of Good Counsel) has earned Landmark Conference Defensive Athlete of the Week recognition after failing to allow a goal in over 190 minutes of play over the weekend.
Rudolph played all 110 minutes in Friday's 0-0 tie with William Paterson, making five saves to register the fifth clean sheet of her Goucher career.
She then logged over 80 minutes on Sunday in a 2-0 shutout win for the Gophers over Eastern Mennonite, as strong defense from Goucher's starting backline of Jessica Leffers (Germantown, Md./Northwest), Anja Opsahl (Silver Spring, Md./Montgomery Blair), Lexi Solazzo (Tolland, Conn./Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts) and Samantha Turner (Vineland, N.J./Vineland) required her to make just one save to keep the Royals off the scoreboard.
Rudolph, who entered the season with the lowest goals-against average in program history, has dropped that number from 0.98 to 0.83 after her performance this past weekend.
This is the second time she has been recognized by the Landmark after previously receiving Defensive Player of the Week honors on Sept. 10, 2012. Rudolph currently has a 9-3-1 record in 13 career starts at Goucher.
The Gophers return to action on Saturday with a 1 p.m. home matchup against Bryn Mawr.
