TOWSON, Md. - The Goucher College Women's Soccer program (5-7-2, Landmark 0-5) lost to Elizabethtown College (8-4, Landmark 3-2) 3-0 Saturday afternoon.
The pace of play was slow at first and Elizabethtown had a couple of early opportunities to score. They eventually scored in the 30th minute as senior Alex Jacobs lofted a high ball over the head of Goucher's first-year goalkeeper Christina Charikofsky (Eldersburg, Pa.).
Five minutes later Elizabethtown was granted a penalty shot and scored. First-year Janelle Barna took the penalty shot for the Blue Jays.
Elizabethtown struck early in the second half after sophomore Lydia Lawson juked a defender and shot into the right corner of the goal. The Blue Jays maintained the lead for the rest of the game.
The Gophers play again next week Wednesday at home against Hood College at 4 pm.
