TOWSON, Md. - Visiting Susquehanna scored a pair of goals in each half, as the River Hawks defeated the Goucher College women's soccer team, 4-1, on Saturday at Beldon Field in Landmark Conference action.
With the loss, Goucher dropped to 4-6-3 overall and 0-3-2 in the Landmark Conference, while Susquehanna improved to 11-1-2 and 4-0-1 in the Landmark.
In the game, Susquehanna got off to a fast start, scoring two goals in the first three minutes of regulation to quickly take a 2-0 lead on Goucher.
The 2-0 lead held for the Riverhawks through the rest of the first half and into intermission, and in the second, Susquehanna added two more goals in the 52nd and 53rd minutes to take an insurmountable 4-0 lead on Goucher.
The Gophers, however, did not give in the rest of the half, eventually outshooting Susquehanna, 7-5, in the final 45 minutes.
In the 75th minute, Goucher was able to get on the board, as senior Christina Yarrish (Hummelstown, Pa.) successfully converted a penalty kick. For Yarrish, it was her sixth goal of the 2018 season and her 13th goal of her Goucher career.
Overall in the match, Susquehanna outshot Goucher by a 16-10 margin, while Goucher held a 3-2 edge on corner kicks.
The Goucher College women's soccer team returns to action on Saturday, October 20, as they travel to Elizabethtown for another Landmark Conference contest. Action gets underway at 4 p.m.
