Gutierrez Honored With Landmark Defensive Honors

TOWSON, Md. - First year goalie Madison Gutierrez (Buckeye, Ariz./Youngker HS) of the Goucher College women's soccer team was named the Landmark Conference Defensive Athlete of the Week on Monday afternoon.

Gutierrez made 13 saves last week and registered a pair of shutouts for the Gophers last week as they played to a pair of scoreless ties.  She registered six saves in a 0-0 stalemate with Susquehanna Tuesday night, then posted seven saves in a draw at Drew on Saturday afternoon.

In 11 games this season (10 starts), Gutierrez has compiled a 0.76 goals-against average, .830 save percentage and five shutouts.  She leads the Landmark Conference in GAA and save percentage and is tied for the conference lead in shutouts.

Goucher is back in action Tuesday evening, hosting Catholic University in a 7 pm Landmark Conference contest at Beldon Field.
