BALTIMORE, MD - The Goucher College Gophers (1-4-0 overall) traveled to face the Hood College Blazers (1-3-0 overall). The Blazers shut out the Gophers to secure their first win of the season in a 2-0 match.
The game started off neutral, with the first shot coming from Hood almost nine minutes into the contest. Outside of a shot from sophomore Abby Lee and senior, Becca Maddox, the offense was all Blazers. With eight of the games first ten shots coming from Hood.
The Blazers broke through at 27:41, coming off a fast break from Goucher's attack. This was the lone goal of the half, giving Hood the lead 1-0.
Hood's offense came out of half following where they left off, opening with a shot three minutes in. The attack resulted in the second goal for the Blazers coming nine minutes in (53:55). For the remainder of the contest, the teams traded shots, but no player could find the back of the net.
The Blazers outshot the Gophers 18-5, with Lee leading the team with two. Nia George recorded four saves during the 90 minutes in net. There was only one corner awarded in the game, given to Hood.
