ST. DAVIDS, PA - The Goucher Womens Soccer Team (1-6-0 overall) traveled to face the Eastern University Eagles (6-0-1). Eastern's late first half goals secured the win over Goucher to remain undefeated on the season.
The offense was all Eagles, within the first seven minutes, they had earned three corner kicks. However, Gouchers defense was able to keep the Eagles away from sophomore goalkeeper, Nia George, until 13 minutes into the contest. After 32 minutes of constant pressure, the Eagles broke through, beating George for the 1-0 lead. With five minutes left in the half, Eastern broke through again, giving their lead a cushion.
The Eagles offense picked up right where they left off at half, recording a shot that forced George to make a save seven minutes in. After multiple attempts, the Eagles were able to breakdown Goucher's defense once more, earning a 3-0 lead. The rest of the contest remained in Easterns favor, after they recorded seven shots.
Eastern held the Gophers shotless, and did not let up any corners. This came after marking 22 shots, and requiring George to make 11 saves. Eastern earned 14 corner kicks.
The women's team is back in action at Lancaster Bible on Tuesday, September 23rd for a 7pm kickoff. The Gophers do not return home until Blue & Gold Weekend on October 4th against Scranton.
