TOWSON, MD — Goucher produced the top performer in
five of the nine individual events, but the Gophers still suffered
a 120-85 loss to Salisbury today in their final meet of the
season.
Goucher's five first-place performances were by Sarah
Keifer (Skillman, NJ/Montgomery) in the 1,000-yard
freestyle (11:52.98), Candace Crasto (Tallahassee,
FL/Urbana) in the 50 free (:26.52), Toni Boyd
(Louisville, KY/Ballard) in the 100 butterfly (1:04.56),
Britt Hogstrom (Killington, VT/Woodstock Union) in
the 100 free (:58.71) and Bethany Natoli (Alexandria,
VA/O'Connell) in the 100 back (1:04.55).
Four of those swimmers were also runners-up in another individual
event: Boyd in the 200 free (2:09.79), Natoli in the 200 individual
medley (2:25.52), Keifer in the 500 free (5:54.10) and Crasto in
the 100 breaststroke (1:17.12).
The Gophers (3-7) will now begin preparing for the 2007 Capital
Athletic Conference Championships. That three-day event will be
held in St. Mary's City, Md., Feb. 9-11.
