SCRANTON, Pa. - Goucher split with a pair of Landmark Conference opponents today, handily beating Juniata, 109-16, but taking a hit from Scranton in the other end of the triangular, 128-109.
The Gophers (2-3, 1-3 Landmark) produced the top performer in four individual events and also captured first place in the 200-yard medley and 200-yard freestyle relays. Bethany Natoli (Alexandria, VA/O'Connell) accounted for two of the first-place performances in individual events as she touched first in the 100 backstroke (1:07.01) and 200 individual medley (2:28.44), plus she was the runner-up in the 200 backstroke (2:22.89) and swam the opening leg on Goucher's victorious 200 medley relay.
Candace Crasto (Tallahassee, FL/Urbana) and Britt Hogstrom (Killington, VT/Woodstock Union) achieved a 1-2 finish for the Gophers in the 50 freestyle. Crasto's winning time was :26.48.
Hogstrom touched first in the 100 freestyle, completing the event in :57.08.
In the 200 medley relay, the quartet of Natoli, Alex Deffaa (Glen Rock, NJ/Oakwood Friends School), Sam Sutherland (North Reading, MA/Austin Prep) and Hogstrom posted a time of 1:59.08. Crasto, Sutherland, Sarah Keifer (Skillman, NJ/Montgomery) and Hogstrom made up Goucher's victorious 200 freestyle relay (1:47.06).
Sutherland placed second in the 100 and 200 butterflies with times of 1:05.51 and 2:33.53, respectively. Keifer was runner-up in the 1000 freestyle (11:34.86).
