KINGS POINT, N.Y. – Goucher's Britt Hogstrom
(Killington, Vt./Woodstock Union) came away from the 2009
Landmark Conference Swimming & Diving Championships that were
conducted this weekend with more than just three titles. Her
performance during the three-day meet that concluded tonight also
earned her a share of the conference's Female Swimmer of the Year
award.
Hogstrom, who successfully defended her 2008 titles in the 50- and 100-yard freestyles and also touched first in the 200 free, is the Landmark Conference Co-Female Swimmer of the Year along with Scranton's Erin O'Connor. She set new school and conference records in all three events with her winning times of :25.02 in the 50, :54.82 in the 100 and 1:59.90 in the 200.
The junior freestyler was also part of four relays that represented Goucher at the meet. She swam the anchor leg in the 200 medley relay and was clocked at :23.79.
O'Connor, the Landmark Conference's top female swimmer in 2008, also placed first in three individual events at this weekend's meet. The events in which she prevailed this year were the 400-yard individual medley, the 200 butterfly and the 500 free.
Hogstrom is Goucher's first conference Player of the Year recipient in the sport of women's swimming since Stephanie LaGue was recognized as the top female swimmer in the Capital Athletic Conference in 2004-05.
