Hogstrom Takes 'Last Chance' at Qualifying for NCAAs

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. — Goucher's Britt Hogstrom
(Killington, Vt./Woodstock Union) was the fastest swimmer
in the 50-yard freestyle at today's Seahawk Invitational.
Hogstrom, a senior, completed the event in :25.02, which was 4-tenths of a second faster than Heather MacLennan from York. She was also the runner-up to Sarah Simpson from Washington & Lee in the 100 free.
Hogstrom, the reigning Landmark Conference champion in both events, competed at the "last chance" meet to try to qualify either automatically (A cut) or previsionally (B cut) for the NCAA Division III Championships. In the 50 free, the A cut is :23.64 and the B cut is :24.41.
In the 100 free, the A cut is :51.53 and the B cut is :53.25. Hogstrom's time today was :54.67.
