Gophers Knock Off Bison, Bow to Seahawks
ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. Goucher's Britt Hogstrom (Killington, Vt./Woodstock Union) placed first in the 200-yard freestyle and was runner-up in two other individual events during a triangular meet today in which the Gophers secured their inaugural victory of the 2009-10 campaign.
Hogstrom Touches First in 200 Free, Second in Two Events
ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. — Goucher's Britt Hogstrom
(Killington, Vt./Woodstock Union) placed first in the
200-yard freestyle and was runner-up in two other individual events
during a triangular meet today in which the Gophers secured their
inaugural victory of the 2009-10 campaign.
Goucher's opponents in the meet were a pair of teams from the Capital Athletic Conference. The Gophers (1-3) were victorious over Gallaudet, 105-95, but were handed a 158-46 setback by St. Mary's (Md.).
Hogstrom's winning time in the 200 free was 2:03.15 as she beat out Melanie Bloch of the Seahawks for first place by more than two seconds. She placed second in the 50 free (:25.58) and 100 free (:57.67).
In the 1000 free, Goucher's Lindsey Phillipson-Weiner (Merion, Pa./Lower Merion) was runner-up to Maeline Casey from St. Mary's. Casey completed the event in 11:30.07 and Phillipson-Weiner in 11:46.56.
