Gophers Slay Knights, Continue Climb Toward .500
TOWSON, Md. Britt Hogstrom (Killington, Vt./Woodstock Union) and Lindsey Phillipson-Weiner (Merion, Pa./Lower Merion) placed first in three individual events apiece today as Goucher continued to climb toward .500 with a 126-70 triumph over Arcadia.
Phillipson-Weiner Places First in 400 IM, Two Freestyle Events

Vt./Woodstock Union) and Lindsey Phillipson-Weiner
(Merion, Pa./Lower Merion) placed first in three
individual events apiece today as Goucher continued to climb toward
.500 with a 126-70 triumph over Arcadia.
Hogstrom completed the 50-yard freestyle in :26.44, more than four seconds before anybody else entered in the event. The senior's other two first-place performances were in the 100 free (:58.02) and 200 free (2:03.60).
Only six individuals in the history of Goucher's women's swimming program have recorded faster times in the 400-yard individual medley than the 5:09.54 Phillipson-Weiner turned in against the Knights (1-4) to earn nine points for the Gophers (3-4) today. She secured an additional 18 points by placing first in both the 500 free (5:41.56) and 1000 free (11:59.70).
Goucher also produced the top performers in the remaining three individual events: Victoria Adinolfi (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie) in the 200 butterfly (2:35.95), Abbey Wegman (Knoxville, Tenn./Berean Christian) in the 200 backstroke (2:37.22) and Emily Hasse (Montvale, N.J./Pascack Hills) in the 200 breaststoke (2:55.57).
In three of the events in which a Goucher swimmer took first place, a teammate was also the runnerup: Rachel Lyon (Fallston, Md./The John Carroll School) in the 50 free (:30.77), Mara Baron (Wayzata, Minn./Breck School) in the 200 butterfly (2:37.38) and Laura Rossi (Ponce, Puerto Rico/Walnut Hill School) in the 200 back (2:39.74).
The meet opened with the quartet of Wegman, Hasse, Adinolfi and Lyon earning 11 points for Goucher by finishing in first place in the 400 medley relay (4:43.93).
