Gophers Go 1-2-3 in Three Events, Thump Gators

Gepner Turns In Top Times in Long-Distance Freestyle Events
TOWSON, Md. — Goucher swimmers went 1-2-3 in the 200-yard freestyle, the 200-yard individual medley and the 100-yard backstroke this evening as the Gophers were claiming their third victory of the season, a 110-73 triumph over Notre Dame (Md.).
In the 200 free, Sarah Pardus (Stratham, N.H./Exeter) touched first, completing the event in 2:11.35, and was followed by Abbey Wegman (Knoxville, Tenn./Berean Christian) and Victoria Adinolfi (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie). In the 200 IM, Sarah Eastland (Sebastopol, Calif./Analy) took first place with her time of 2:28.24, Ruth Logan (Clinton, Conn./The Morgan School) was second and Lindsey Phillipson-Weiner (Merion, Pa./Lower Merion) was third; in the 100 back, Eastland was first (1:10.16), Adinolfi second and Logan third.
The Gophers outscored the Gators (0-4), 16-3, in all three of those events.
Goucher picked up an additional 13 points in the 1000 free thanks to a 1-2 finish by Catherine Gepner (West Allenhurst, N.J./Ocean Township) and Erika Flores (Nogales, Mexico/Lourdes). Gepner, who turned in a time of 12:32.95 in the 1000 free, was also the top performer in the 500 free (6:04.70).
Rachel Leavitt-Baron (Seattle, Wash./Seattle Academy) was runner-up in both the 50 free (:28.97) and 100 free (1:04.23). In addition to placing second in the 200 free, Wegman was runner-up in the 100 butterfly (1:12.32).
The Gophers (3-5) jumped out to a 15-0 lead after just one event by producing the top two entries in the 200 medley relay. The victorious foursome was composed of Logan, Pardus, Phillipson-Weiner and Rachel Lyon (Fallston, Md./The John Carroll School), which posted a winning time of 2:07.32.
