Craver Takes First in 100 Free, Second in 100 Breast
ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. — Nicole Craver (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove Area) accounted for Goucher's only first-place performance in an individual event in today's meet against St. Mary's (Md.), won by the Seahawks, 161-43.
Sophomore Also Places Third in 200 Free in Loss to Seahawks
ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. — Nicole Craver (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove Area) accounted for Goucher's only first-place performance in an individual event in today's meet against St. Mary's (Md.), won by the Seahawks, 161-43.
The sophomore was also the only swimmer for the Gophers to finish as the runner-up in an event.
The Seahawks (4-0) took at least the top two spots in the meet's first six events before Craver came through in the 100-yard freestyle, placing first with a time of :57.83. That provided her with a victory over Erin O'Connor from St. Mary's by 21-hundredths of a second.
Three events later, Brooke Raab from St. Mary's touched first in the 100 breaststroke ahead of Craver, who was second. Raab's winning time was 1:11.72; Craver was clocked at 1:15.53.
Craver also placed third in the 200 free (2:06.51).
The only other third-place efforts by the Gophers (0-3) came from Abbey Wegman (Knoxville, Tenn./Berean Christian) in the 50 free (:28.00) and Mel Lovalvo (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) in the 500 free (5:52.20).
