Regopoulos Rules 1000 Fr. For Second Straight Week

MARY'S CITY, Md. — Alexis Regopoulos (Fitchburg, Mass./North Middlesex Regional) touched first in the 1000-yard freestyle and Ila Jackson (Columbia, Md./homeschooled) shared first place in the 50 free with a swimmer from St. Mary's (Md.) in a triangular meet that pitted Goucher against two schools from the Capital Athletic Conference.

The Gophers came up short on both fronts as they lost to the Seahawks, 135.5-68.5, and to Marymount, 137-68.
In winning the event for the second time in 2015-16, Regopoulos completed the 1000 free in 11:01.76 time, beating her time from last week by more than 10 seconds. She also took second place in the 500 free (5:33.15) in today's meet.
Jackson and Elizabeth Straathof were clocked at the identical time of :26.19 in the 50 free.
Molly Brenton (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Twp.), Kyanna Cadwallader (Gainesville, Fla./Gainesville), Lizzy Hannifin (Denver, Colo./East), and Jackson formed the entry from Goucher that took second place in the 400 free relay with its time of 3:57.26.
The Saints (2-0) squeaked out a 104-101 win over the Seahawks (1-1).
The Gophers (3-2) are back in action one week from today when they face Scranton and Juniata at 1 p.m. in Huntingdon, Pa.
