TOWSON, MD — Goucher dropped only one game in the
four contested singles matches today on the way to a convincing 9-0
triumph over Gallaudet.
Carly Heinz (Scotch Plains, NJ/Scotch
Plains-Fanwood) posted a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Gallaudet's
Krystina Carver at first singles, as did Tanya Cooley
(Arlington, VA/Wakefield) over Nieves Perez at No. 2 and
Gillian McCusker (Crofton, MD/Arundel) over Megan
DiGiovanni at No. 4.
At third singles, Hilary Fast (Wilton, ME/Mount
Blue) was a 6-0, 6-1 winner over Olivia Liang.
The Bison (0-5) forfeited the remaining two singles matches and
third doubles. At first doubles, Stephanie Austin
(Woodbridge, CT/Amity Regional) and Christina
Grimm (Greenwich, CT/New Hampton) defeated Carver and
DiGiovanni, 8-0; at No. 2, Chloe Scott-Giry (Amagansett,
NY/Ross School) and Sally Gordon (Onancock,
VA/Broadwater Academy) blitzed Perez and Liang by the same
8-0 score.
