SALISBURY, MD — After winning only three games in
the three doubles matches, Goucher (2-6) offered more of a
challenge to Salisbury today in singles play only to bow to the Sea
Gulls, 9-0.
Salisbury won all six singles matches in straight sets, but at No.
6, Kelly Fahrner had to prevail in a tiebreaker to capture the
second set and complete a 6-2, 7-6 (7-3) victory over Chloe
Scott-Giry (Amagansett, NY/Ross School). At No. 1,
Goucher's Carly Heinz (Scotch Plains, NJ/Scotch
Plains-Fanwood) lost to Erika Mitry 6-1, 6-3; at No. 2,
Tanya Cooley (Arlington, VA/Wakefield) suffered a
6-2, 6-1 loss to Jenny Rosler of the Sea Gulls.
Mitry and Rosler were 8-0 winners over Cooley and Heinz at No. 1
doubles.
