Grimm, Scott-Giry Record Singles Win, Victorious at Third Doubles

TOWSON, Md. - Christina Grimm (Greenwich, CT/New Hampton) and Chloe Scott-Giry (Amagansett, NY/The Ross School) were victorious in singles play and partnered for Goucher's only doubles win as the Gophers defeated Wesley, 6-3, this afternoon.

Grimm and Scott-Giry posted an 8-0 triumph over Holly Crittenden and Nicole Lambey at No. 3 doubles, but the Wolverines (1-1) were ahead 2-1 at the conclusion of doubles play.

Wesley's Lauren Tarver defeated Joan Pulupa (Gaithersburg, MD/Richard Montgomery) 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1, but the Gophers (5-3) took the remaining five singles matches - all in straight sets. At No. 2, Carly Heinz (Scotch Plains, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood) disposed of Rebecca Pennington 6-0, 6-2, and Grimm was a 6-2, 6-1 winner over Kori Isken at No. 3.

Stella Day (Bellingham, WA/Sehome) polished off Amanda Bynon at fourth singles 6-3, 6-1, Dana Clark (Oxford, MI/Sacred Heart) earned a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Crittenden at No. 5 and Scott-Giry pinned a 6-0, 6-0 setback on Taylor Blackiston at No. 6.
