Heinz Picks Up 10th Singles Win with 6-4, 7-5 Triumph at No. 2

CARLISLE, Pa. - A win at second singles by Carly Heinz (Scotch Plains, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood) provided Goucher with its lone point today in an 8-1 loss to Dickinson.
Heinz defeated Joelle Nitzberg 6-4, 7-5, to pick up her 10th singles win of the season.
The Red Devils (9-4) won the remaining five singles matches, all in straight sets. At No. 1, Anne McGillicuddy turned back Joan Pulupa (Gaithersburg, MD/Richard Montgomery) 6-3, 6-2.
The Gophers (10-7) were swept in doubles play for only the second time in 2007-08. At No. 1, McGillicuddy and Caitlin McGovern were 8-3 winners over Pulupa and Heinz.
