streak after taking down Susquehanna, 6-3, this afternoon.
The Gophers (12-4, 4-2 Landmark) led 2-1 at the conclusion of doubles play, getting wins from Tanya Cooley (Arlington, Va./Wakefield) and Carly Heinz (Scotch Plains, N.J./Scotch Plains-Fanwood) at No. 1 and Joan Pulupa (Gaithersburg, Md./Richard Montgomery) and Chloe Scott-Giry (Amagansett, N.Y./The Ross School) at No. 2. Cooley and Heinz defeated Julia Lerner and Christine Crigler, 8-5, while Pulupa and Scott-Giry registered an 8-3 victory over Shelby Werronen and Whitney Arcaro.
Two of the six singles matches went to three sets. At No. 1, Lerner earned a point for the Crusaders (5-9, 1-5 Landmark) by knocking off Cooley 4-6, 6-2, 6-2, but at No. 2, Heinz battled back from being a set down to record a 5-7, 7-5, 6-0 win over Werronen.
At No. 3, Mouna Attarha (Piedmont, Calif./Piedmont) improved to 12-6 in singles play this season by downing Arcaro 6-2, 6-4, at No. 4, Pulupa bested Crigler 6-4, 6-2, and at No. 5, Scott-Giry extended her winning streak in singles competition to 11 matches by crushing Jessi Haas 6-0, 6-1.
The Gophers are the No. 3 seed in the Landmark Conference's postseason tournament and will take on second-seeded Juniata in a semifinal on Wednesday in Huntingdon, Pa.
