Goucher's other two wins during singles competition were by senior Carly Heinz (Scotch Plains, N.J./Scotch Plains-Fanwood) at No. 1 and sophomore Mara Bergman (Summit, N.J./Summit) at No. 4. Heinz pinned a 6-3, 6-2 setback on Neumann's Ali DeTolla; Bergman, who went 15-6 in singles play as a freshman last season, recorded a 7-6 (8-6), 6-4 victory over Allison Trout.
The Knights (1-2) led 2-1 at the conclusion of doubles play. Heinz and freshman Marina Sterngold (Los Angeles, Calif./Palisades Charter) secured a point for the Gophers (1-0) with their 8-4 win over Michelle Steward and Jasper Thomson at No. 2.
