TOWSON, Md. — Goucher's Amanda Bercovici (Hackensack, N.J./Bergen Tech) repeated as the Women's Tennis Player of the Week in the Landmark Conference, earning the honor this time for performance at the Goucher Invitational.
In today's announcement naming her the top female player for September 23-29, the conference noted the junior transfer's 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (10-4) victory over Rachel Fein from Gwynedd Mercy in the finals of the No. 1 singles draw, which prevented Fein from winning the title in the tournament's top singles flight for a third straight year. To reach the finals, Bercovici pinned a 6-2, 6-2 setback on Michelle Cameron from Misericordia and followed that up by taking out Krystle Bendijo from Richard Stockton 6-1, 6-1 in the semifinals.
Bercovici is off to a 6-1 start in singles play this season, her first with the Gophers.
