Gophers Conclude Weekend with Second 9-0 Setback

MADISON, N.J. — Goucher came up empty in a Landmark Conference match today for the second day in a row. A tough weekend for head coach Sally Baum's squad concluded with a 9-0 loss to Drew.

  • Kirsten Cianci (Bolton, Conn./Bolton) was stationed at No. 1 in Goucher's singles lineup and was paired with Leigh Oehrig (Woodbine, Md./Glenelg) at No. 1 doubles. She was beaten at first singles ny Katie Marshall 6-1, 6-2; Ty Ty Nguyen and Jessica Cheng were 8-2 winners over Cianci and Oehrig during Drew's sweep of the three doubles matches.
  • The Rangers (4-5, 1-2 Landmark) won all six singles matches in straight sets.
  • The match was moved indoors to the Simon Forum and Athletic Center due to cold temperatures and high winds in the forecast.

Before they conclude the 2015-16 season with four consecutive Landmark Conference matches, the Gophers (3-8, 0-3 Landmark) will take on Arcadia at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Glenside, Pa.
