Gophers Don't Benefit From Moving Match Indoors

BALTIMORE, Md. — Moving a home match indoors to the Bare Hills Racquet & Fitness Club because of the weather forecast unfortunately didn't change Goucher's fortunes. The Gophers dropped their eighth match in a row, the latest being tonight's Landmark Conference encounter with Scranton, which the Royals won 9-0.

  • The Royals (7-5, 2-0 Landmark) allowed the Gophers (3-9, 0-4 Landmark) to win only four games during the doubles competition.
  • Scranton's Emily Walsh, a first-team All-Landmark selection in singles in both 2014 and 2015, defeated Kirsten Cianci (Bolton, Conn./Bolton) 6-2, 6-1 at first singles.

The Gophers get another shot tomorrow at picking up their first win since they downed Frostburg State, 7-2, back on October 10 when they host Juniata in another Landmark Conference match at 1 p.m.
