Gophers Drop First Conference Match of the Season
The Goucher College women’s tennis team fell to Landmark Conference foe, the University of Scranton, 7-2, at home on Saturday afternoon in Towson, Md.
TOWSON, Md. – The Goucher College women's tennis team fell to Landmark Conference foe, the University of Scranton, 7-2, at home on Saturday afternoon in Towson, Md.
The Gopher duo of Mandile Mpofu (Harare, Zimbabwe) and Ali Gorson-Morrow (Broomall, PA) battled to an 8-6 loss to Scranton's Emilia Jakubek and Emily Machado at No. 2 doubles. Both No. 1 and No. 3 doubles fell 8-2 to the Royals.
Senior Leigh Oehrig (Woodbine, MD) took Machado to a set tie breaker, and pulled out a win for Goucher 6-3, 6-7 (3-7), 1-0, (11-9). Junior Mackenzie Donohue (Bronx, NY) also earned a win for the Gophers defeating Emily Kellby 6-2, 6-4.
