Greyhounds Race by Gophers in Landmark Play

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Goucher College women's tennis team (4-11, Landmark 1-5) was unable to secure its second Landmark win of the season versus Moravian despite taking two flights from the Greyhounds.

The Gophers fell behind 3-0 following doubles play – which proved to be costly heading into singles play. Moravian took home wins at No. 4 and No. 1 singles to seal its third Landmark win of the year.

Goucher players fell at No. 3 and No. 2 singles as well, but the Gophers refused to go down without a fight at No. 5 and No. 6 singles. Sophomore Ali Tomasevich (Harleysville, Pa.) took home a win at No. 5 singles over her opponents, 6-4, 6-4.

First-year Katie Mazerka battled at No. 6 singles to help the Gophers to their second point of the afternoon, closing the match, 7-2 in favor of the Greyhounds. Mazerka's flight went to the set tiebreaker after she split with Grace Bailly, 6-4, 5-7 in the first two sets. She bounced back in set tiebreaker 16-14, earning her first win of the 2017 season.
