Anais Gill Named Landmark Conference Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week

First-year Anais Gill of the Goucher College women's tennis team has been impressive in the first few weeks of her collegiate career, and for her efforts over the weekend at the Goucher Invitational, she was named the Landmark Conference's Athlete of the Week on Monday for the period ending Sept. 30, 2018.

On the weekend at the home invitational, Gill rolled through the first flight of singles action, winning two matches on Saturday and another on Sunday in straight sets to finish first overall in the flight.

Gill knocked off Maria Ibarra of Stockton to kick off the Invitational on Saturday, 6-0, 6-2, then followed it up with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Melanie Haas of Lebanon Valley later in the afternoon. In the flight finals on Sunday, Gill rolled through Caleigh Masterman of Immaculata, 6-1, 7-6 (7-2) to take the top spot in the flight. 

So far on the young season, Gill has been dominant in singles action, posting a 5-0 record with all five victories coming in straight sets. 

Gill and the rest of the Goucher College women's tennis team returns to action on Thursday, as they host Dickinson at home. First serve is set for 3 p.m.
