Anais Gill Claims Landmark Conference Women's Tennis Player Of The Week Honor

BALTIMORE, Md. – Anais Gill (Cambridge, England/Hills Road Sixth Form College), a member of the Goucher College women's tennis team, has been named the Landmark Conference Player of the Week for the week of April 8-14. It is her second conference honor of the year after garnering the award in the fall.

Gill helped the Gophers to a 2-0 record in the week to secure its first postseason berth since 2013. The freshman went 2-0 at both No. 1 singles and doubles in the week. She teamed up with Mandile Mpofu (Harare, Zimbabwe/Arundel School) at No. 1 doubles to win 8-5 against Catholic on Wednesday and then took her top flight singles match 6-1, 6-1 against the Cardinals. Gill and Mpofu took care of business after the senior day festivities at No. 1 doubles against Susquehanna on Saturday 8-1 and then she gutted out a 6-1, 0-6, 6-2 three-set match at No. 1 singles against the River Hawks.

Gill is 11-7 in singles matches on the year and 8-6 with Mpofu at No. 1 doubles while she also is 1-1 with Tes DeJaeger (Norwalk, Conn./Brien McMahon) at No. 1 doubles.

Goucher returns to action on Wednesday against Notre Dame University of Maryland. Match time is 4 p.m.
