Goucher Women's Tennis Earns Its Fifth-Straight Win In Final Preparation For Landmark Conference Semifinals

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Goucher College women's tennis team will go into the Landmark Conference Tournament riding a five-game winning streak after defeating Immaculata University 6-3 in non-conference action and the team's final tune up for its first postseason since 2013.

Anais Gill (Cambridge, England/Hills Road Sixth Form College) and Tes DeJaeger (Norwalk, Conn./Brien McMahon) won at No. 1 doubles, 8-6 while Mandile Mpofu (Harare, Zimbabwe/Arundel School) and Sara Healy (Waterford, Va./Woodgrove) earned an 8-2 win and Ali Tomasevich (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton) and Ali Gorson-Morrow (Broomall, Pa./Barrack Hebrew Academy) earned an 8-2 win at No. 3 doubles.

"Today was another example that showcases how much depth we have on the team," said head coach Steve Baum. "We had to switch up our usual lineup because some of our players couldn't make the trip, but we still got the win."

Gill won 6-1, 6-3 at No. 1 singles and Mpofu took her No. 2 singles match 6-3, 6-2. Tomasevich dispatched of her No. 4 singles opponent, 6-0, 6-2.

Gorson-Morrow lost 7-6 (7-4), 7-5 at No. 4 singles and Healy dropped a 6-4, 6-1 decision at No. 6 singles. DeJaeger forfeited her match at No. 3 singles.

The Gophers finished the regular season 10-9 overall and 4-3 in conference play. The squad has posted its most wins, winning conference record and clinched its first non-losing campaign since 2013 under the first-year head coach.

"This was a great last match for us to get prepared for our playoff match next week," said Baum. "Our confidence is growing everyday and we are looking forward tom our rematch against Moravian."
