Gophers Extend Win Streak to Four in Regular Season Finale

HUNTINGDON, Pa. - The Goucher College women's tennis team won its fourth straight match as it downed Juniata College 6-3 in the regular season finale in Landmark Conference play Friday afternoon at Raffensperger Courts.

• Goucher (10-6, 5-2 Landmark) jumped out to a 2-1 lead after doubles.
• Ceri McCaffrey (Ardsley, N.Y./Ardsley) and Aaliyah Ybarra (Bastrop, Texas/Cedar Creek) prevailed 8-7 (7-3) at No. 1.
• Sarai Oquendo Silveira (Houston, Texas/Harmony School of Discovery) and Shelby Meek (Halethorpe, Md./Catonsville) posted an 8-2 win at No. 2.
• The Eagles (0-13, 0-7) won by default at No. 3. 

• Meek recorded a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 2 for the Gophers' first singles point.
• Silveira blanked her opponent 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3.
• McCaffrey clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-0 victory at No. 1.
• Ilana Stein (Metuchen, N.J./Metuchen) won at No. 5 singles by a 6-0, 6-0 score.

• Goucher won for the sixth time in seven matches.
• Silveira extended her singles win streak to seven matches, while McCaffrey has won six straight.
• Stein earned her first collegiate singles victory.
• Goucher's 10 victories are its most since finishing 10-10 in the 2018-19 season.

• Goucher will be the No. 3 seed in the upcoming Landmark Conference Championship.
• The Gophers will travel to second-seeded Moravian on Wednesday, April 26, with match time to be announced.
