COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - The Goucher College women's tennis team opened its season by dropping a 6-3 decision to Ursinus College at Bailey Tennis Courts Saturday afternoon.
- Goucher (0-1) battled in all three doubles matches before Ursinus (2-0) ultimately took a 2-1 lead.
- At No. 1, Natalia Navarro and Melin Sigen were 8-6 winners.
- Jessica Townes and Lucy Ingraham dropped second doubles by an 8-6 score.
- Rachel Haupt and Aaliyah Ybarra fell 8-5 at No. 3.
- First year Haupt won her collegiate singles debut at No. 3 by a score of 6-2, 7-5.
- Haupt trailed 2-5 in the second set before winning the final five games to earn the victory.
- Townes was a 6-3, 6-3 winner at No. 4.
- Ingraham battled at No. 5 in her college singles debut before dropping her match 6-4, 7-5.
- Goucher and Ursinus met for the first time since the 2018-19 season.
- Goucher opens its home and Landmark Conference schedules next Saturday when it hosts Elizabethtown at the Schroedl Tennis Center at noon.
