WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Goucher College Women's Tennis team (1-7 overall, 1-1 conference) traveled to compete in a conference match against the Cardinals of Catholic University of America (6-8 overall, 3-0 conference).
In singles play, No. 1 Meline Siggen dropped her match in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4. Lucy Ingraham, playing at No. 2 singles, fell 6-1, 6-2. Alexa Benedict earned Goucher's lone singles victory at No. 3, winning in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2. Lydia Hurst dropped her No. 4 singles match, 6-1, 6-0. At No. 5 singles, Kendra Lanese fell 6-0, 6-0, while Nini Kandelaki was defeated at No. 6 singles, 6-2, 6-0.
The Cardinals secured the doubles point to begin the match. The No. 1 pair of Siggen and Ingraham fell in a tight matchup, 6-4. The No. 2 team of Benedict and Hurst was defeated 6-0, while Lanese and Kandelaki also dropped their match at No. 3 doubles, 6-0.
The Gophers return to action on Saturday, March 28, when they host Juniata in a 3 pm contest for ITA College Tennis Weekend. This match was moved indoors to Twin Lakes.
