Goucher Takes Down Warriors in Conference Matchup

WILLIAMSPORT, PA - The Goucher College Gophers Women's Tennis (3-11 overall, 3-4 conference) traveled to face the Warriors of Lycoming College (2-12 overall, 2-6 conference). The women came up with the 5-2 victory in Landmark Conference play.

In singles play, No. 1 Natalia Navarro won in straight sets, 6-1, 7-5, while No. 2 Meline Siggen fell 7-5, 6-3. Lucy Ingraham took the court in the No. 3 matchup, beating her opponent, 6-0, 6-1, while No. 4 Alexa Benedict dominated with a straight-set victory, 6-0, 6-0. At No. 5, Kendra Lanese lost her first set 7-5 before battling back to win the second set 6-4. She ultimately fell in a third-set tiebreaker, 7-6 (7-5). Rounding out singles play was Nini Kandelaki in the No. 6 spot, who secured a 6-2, 6-0 victory.

In doubles play, the No. 1 duo of Navarro and Ingraham earned a 6-0 win, while the No. 2 pair of Siggen and Benedict secured another Gopher victory, 6-0. The No. 3 team of Lydia Hurst and Lanese completed the sweep with a 6-1 win.

The Gophers return to action on Saturday, April 18, when they host Scranton. The match is set to begin at 1pm, and the Gophers will celebrate Senior Day prior to warmups.
