Gophers Celebrate Seniors Against Scranton

BALTIMORE, MD-  The Goucher Women's Tennis team (3-12 overall, 3-5 conference) hosted the Scranton Royals (11-2 overall, 7-0 conference) in a conference contest, while also celebrating and honoring their seniors. The tight match ended in a 3-4 loss for the Gophers.

In singles play, No. 1 Natalia Navarro dropped her match 6-1, 6-1, while No. 2 Meline Siggen earned a straight-set victory, 7-5, 6-3. No. 3 Lucy Ingraham defeated her opponent 6-4, 6-0. Alexa Benedict battled in a close match that was pushed to three sets before falling 2-6, 6-2, 3-6. In the No. 5 Nini Kandelaki lost 6-0, 6-2, and No. 6 Kendra Lanese dropped her match 6-0, 6-0.

The Gophers secured the doubles point. The No. 1 duo of Navarro and Ingraham earned a 6-4 victory, while No. 2 Siggen and Benedict won convincingly, 6-1. The No. 3 pair of Lanese and Lydia Hurst fell 6-0.

The Gophers return to action on Sunday, April 19, when they host Drew at 1 p.m.
