Coach Baum enters her 35th year as the coach of the Gophers and her 38th year overall at Goucher College. She has established a strong winning tradition and her teams continue to excel on and off the court. Over the years a number of her teams and players have received All-Academic recognition from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
Baum has been selected as a conference Coach of the Year 4 times, the most of any coach at Goucher. She has had 3 conference Players of the Year and 2 conference Rookies of the Year along with numerous first and second team conference selections in both the Capital and Landmark Conferences. Her teams have twice earned the number one seed in the postseason tournament and twice reached the championship match as well as earning playoff berths as a top 4 seed in other seasons. Thirteen of her teams have won at least 10 matches in a year and the 1986-1987 squad holds the single season school record with 18 victories.
In 1991 Baum was inducted into the Slippery Rock University Athletics Hall of Fame for her career as an outstanding player in field hockey, softball and lacrosse. She earned both her undergraduate degree in Health and Physical Education and her master’s degree in Education from Slippery Rock, located in western Pennsylvania.
Baum, a native of Maryland, resides with her husband Michael in Fallston, Maryland.
