SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Goucher's Sheba Newman-Blount (Lanham, Md./Bishop Ireton) broke the indoor school record in the triple jump with her performance today at the Susquehanna Open.

The senior recorded a distance of 33-feet, 7.25-inches in the event, good for fifth place.

Newman-Blount also placed ninth in the 55-meter dash (:07.83) and 13th in the 200-meter run (:28.07), plus she ran the opening leg on Goucher's 4 x 200-meter relay that finished in sixth place. The unit, which included Caitlin Biggers (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Lakeland), Kanika Staten (Columbia, Md./Long Reach) and Dana Macaluso (Huntington, N.Y./Huntington), posted a time of 1:56.10, which is the second-fastest in that event in the history of Goucher's indoor track and field program and only 54-hundredths of a second off of the school record.

Abby Cooney (Holden, Mass./Wachusett Regional) registered a throw of 36-feet, 7.5-inches in the weight throw and although she placed 10th overall in the event, only four of the competitors that finished ahead of her were from Division III institutions.

There was no team scoring at today's meet.
