Cooney, Meade Score 24 Points in Four Events
ANNVILLE, Pa. Abby Cooney (Holden, Mass./Wachusett Regional) and Sarah Meade (Santa Fe, N.M./Monte Del Sol Charter School) secured a combined total of 24 points in four separate events, helping Goucher finish in fifth place today at the Lebanon Valley Invitational.
Gophers Place Fifth in Team Scoring, Two Points Back of Hood

points in four separate events, helping Goucher finish in fifth
place today at the Lebanon Valley Invitational.
Cooney picked up eight points off her second-place performance in the weight throw and another six points for placing third in the shot put. Her distances: 35-feet, 5.75-inches in the weight throw and 31-feet, 11.5-inches in the shot put.
Meade completed the 300-meter dash in :47.80, good for third place and six points. Her time was the second-fastest in that event by a female in the history of Goucher's indoor track and field program. The freshman also earned another four points for the Gophers by placing fourth in the 55-meter dash (:08.09).
Also contributing to Goucher's final team score of 37 points were: Dana Macaluso (Huntington, N.Y./Huntington) for placing third in the long jump (14-feet, 3.75-inches), Caitlin Biggers (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Lakeland) for placing fourth in the 500-meter run (1:33.93), Kate Clarke (Hendersonville, Tenn./Pope John Paul II) for placing fifth in the 55-meter dash (:08.10), and Kanika Staten (Columbia, Md./Long Reach) for placing sixth in the 500-meter run (1:47.44).
With 37 points, Goucher placed fifth overall in the team scoring behind Lebanon Valley (163 points), Catholic (126), King's (63) and Hood (39).
