Freshman Establishes New Indoor School Record in Mile

Lansing, Mich./East Lansing) set a new indoor school
record in the mile run today at the DuCharme Invitational.
The freshman completed the event in 5:35.32, good for seventh place.
Sarah Meade (Santa Fe, N.M./Monte Del Sol Charter School) took fifth place in the 400-meter dash (1:05.19) and Dana Macaluso (Huntington, N.Y./Huntington) was eighth in the long jump (15-feet, 2.75-inches).
The Gophers had two relays place as high as third: in the 4 x 200 meters, Meade, Kate Clarke (Hendersonville, Tenn./Pope John Paul II), Marissa Copan (Golden, Colo./Golden) and Macaluso turned in a combined time of 2:00.27; in the 4 x 800 meters, Couraud, Haley Augustson (Athens, W.Va./PikeView), Kanika Staten (Columbia, Md./Long Reach) and Barb Koziel (Holland, N.J./Delaware Valley Regional) were clocked at 12:21.70.
Goucher's 4 x 400-meter and distance medley relays placed fourth and fifth, respectively, posting times of 4:34.99 in the 4 x 400 and 16:06.02 in the distance medley.
The Gophers earned a team score of 28 points to wind up in eighth place in the final standings.
